Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1, Part 2- The Wissahickon Page 165 contains a photograph (with the notation of "Newell" at the bottom) which is similar to the photograph on page 163 (see catalogue number 2013.34.1.163). The photograph is of the same building but as seen from the front rather than the side. The Wissahickon creek is seen in the foreground and a small boat is moored along the creek bank. The front of the building is still mostly obscured by trees; however, a tall "open mesh" fence is visible on both sides of the front entrance extending outward to the edges of the property. A man and two dogs can be seen standing on the ledge of the low stone wall to the left of the entrance. A portion of the stable and carriage on the left is visible. A portion of the structure on the right can also be seen but the exact nature of the structure still cannot be determined from the photograph.
