Page 177 contains two photographs:
(a, top) This photograph has a typed caption: "Rittenhouse Lower Mill Dam, 1907." This photograph shows a small dam on the Wissahickon. In the foreground is a portion of the creek bank, and the opposite bank is visible in the background. Above the opposite creek bank is visible a wooden fence stretching along the path to separate the path from the creek bank and the creek. None of the trees/foliage are in bloom in the photograph.
(b, bottom) This photograph has a typed caption: "Rittenhouse Lower Mill Dam, 1907." The photograph above (a) shows a side view of the dam. This photograph (b) shows a lengthwise view of the same dam taken from an elevated position on the creek bank. More importantly, this photograph shows a view of some type of construction along one side of the creek extending into the distance. It appears that a type of trench has been dug along the creek bank (at the edge of the creek) and at regular intervals two wooden posts have been inserted into the earth to support a wooden cross beam.Collection
