The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1, Part 2- The Wissahickon
Page 181 contains a note entry by Jellett, entitled "October 8, 1911, Sunday." This note indicates that the remains of the "New Mill' dam-breast were again exposed (the lower Wissahickon was drained so as to make repairs to the east wall below Wissahickon Hall). Jellett visited the grounds to to take notes and photographs. While the stream bed appeard the same to Jellett, the water did not flow over the remains in the same way as the first time (when the area was drained in 1906, see catalog number 2013.34.1.179b). This time, Jellett viewed the eastern embankment from the west side of the stream and believed he discovered part of the old wall of the mill showing below the retaining wall. He concluded with a detailed drawing to document the remains.Collection
