Page 184 contains a long newspaper article (which continues on scrapbook page 185 and into scrapbook page 186). The article is entitled "Historian Tells of Wissahickon." The article appeared in the newspaper (newspaper unknown) on March 8, 1928 and details a presentation made on February 24, 1928 by A. C. Chadwick, Jr., to the Wissahickon Historical Society. The article/presentation by Chadwick begins in the 17th century with a (possible) visit to the Wissahickon by Peter Lindestrom, a young Swede, to obtain information on lands known as New Sweden along the Delaware River. He mentions Willliam Penn's survey of the Wissahickon in 1681/1682. He speaks of early roads in the Wissahickon Valley in the 1820s and relates the development of mills along the Wissahickon. He continues his history of the area with further mention of road, mill and building development in the area. Throughout his presentation he combines economic, physical and social development of the area weaving names, locations and dates of prominent people, events and locations that occurred.
The above summary includes those portions of the article that extend onto scappbook 185 and a small portion of scrapbook page 186.Collection
