The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 3 -The Wissahickon
Page 14 contains Jellett's notes labeled "Markle, Lord's Mill, Ammadown Mill." Jellett begins with a short narrative relating that Ammadown's Mill stood on Monoshone Creek, immediately above it's (unclear word) into Wissahickon Creek.
Lord's Mill was situated on Monoshone Creek, immediately below the bend in the road, south of the school road. Part of the mill stood so low that the mill rooof could almost be touched from the road. (Jellett attributes this information to Miss Robond).
Next, Jellett relates that Lord's Mill stood on Rittenhouse Street above the Wissahickon Turnpike and was occupied by Ammadown. It functioned as a blanket mill during "war times". During the War (Civil War, most likely), Lord had a large consigment condemned. Vandergrift of Roxborough volunteered to rsolve the issue/problem, which he did, and was given a good position at the mill as a reward. Jellett attributes this information to Bob Fell.Collection
