Page 35 contains notes from Jellett:
Rittenhouse Paper Mill (Lower Mill ???)
The Rittenhouse Paper Mill stood on the Monoshone Creek, above the Sharpless Turnpike gate. An old man used to come to the spring at Rittenhouse Street for water and told Fell that he used to work at the mill. After his death, his son returned to the spring for water, claiming that the water was the best avaialble from any spring along the creek. Fell also related that when the mill was removed, he took the corner stone and placed it under the guard house for safekeeping. While Fell was on another beat, the guardhouse was removed to another location and the stone was carried off with other debris and never recovered.
Jellett related that John Keyser shared that the original paper mill stood bhind Sharpless' box and the same mill was later operated by Markle. (J.K. to E.JC.J. 5-26-1905)
Umsted related to Jellett that the old mill was an old Spill (?) mill and that the Ammidown Mills had previously been operated by Markle. (W. Umsted to E.C.J. 8-17-1905).Collection
