The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 3 -The Wissahickon Page 46 contains a letter from James F. Magee, Jr. to Edward W. Hocker, dated March 20, 1936. In the letter, Mr. Magee offers Mr. Hocker (an official of an unnamed historical society) the opportunity to purchase prints of American watermarks from the collection of the Franklin Institute. Mr. Magee mentions the collection at the Institute of letters containing colonial and revolutionary water marks.
