The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 3 -The Wissahickon
Page 52 contains two newspaper clippings:
(a, all of left column, all of 2nd column and top half of 3rd column) This article is a continuation of "The Man on the Corner" which began on scrapbook page 51 (see 2013.34.3.51b). The author relates a detailed description of the history of the Ritttenhouse paper mill and the historical timelines asociated with major people and events regarding this mill. The article concludes with two poems (1692 and 1696) relating to Germantown, paper mills and the paper industry.
(b, bottom half of column three and all of column 4). It should be noted that column 4 does not continue the article begun in the bottom half of column three because it appears that Jellett (or someone else) pasted the wrong side of the newspaper clipping into this scrapbook. It is assumed that the reverse side of the clipping (which cannot be seen/removed without the danger of destroying the clipping since it is pasted to the scrapbook page) contains the continuation of the article.
This article (b) is dated July 19, 1919 and is entitled "Rittenhouse Memorial.". The article is a description of the unveiling of the marker to William Rittenhousem at the Germantown Mennonite Burial Grounds (in his capacity as a Mennonite Minister and Bishop). The article begins with a description of the marker ceremony and guests attending. The fourth column continues but cannot be reported since it has been pasted into the scrapbook on the worng side. This article also continues on scrapbook page 53.Collection
