(a, all of left column, all of 2nd column and the short 3rd and 4th columns at the bottom of this scrapbook page) This article is a continuation of the article begun on scrapbook page 52 (2013.34.3.52b) entitled "Rittenhouse Memorial". The article began with a description of the unveiling of a marker dedicated to William Rittenhouse at the Germantown Mennonite Burial Gorunds. The article then described his career as a paper maker and cites dates, names and events associated with the Rittenhouse mill. The article ends with a notation that the Mennonite Church had expressed a wish for actual paper specimens made at the mill by Rittenhouse. The wish was granted by Mrs. John H. White of Norristown, daughter of George Markle who operated the Rittenhouse paper mill fom 1811 to 1837.
(b, top right) This is a program listing for the David Rittenhouse Bicentennial on April 16 and 19, 1932 hosted by the Germantown Historical Society, the Wissahickon Valley Historical Society and the City of Philadelphia History Society. The program lists the itinerary and times fora tour of the Rittenhose landmarks on April 16 and a description of the Public Meeting on April 19 at Germantown Academy.Collection
