The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 3 -The Wissahickon
Page 84 contains a clipping from page 15, Volume VI, Number 4, July 1924 of The Beehive. Jellett has written the date 1926 in pencil at the top of the article (perhaps indicating the date in which the article was placed in the scrapbook?).
The article is entitled "Paper Mill Memorial for Germantown" and includes an illustration of the first paper mill in America (illustration made from Photograph of the original painting taken by Dr. N. H. Keyser). The Beehive article (author unknown) mentions the discussion of a proposed monument as a memorial to the first paper mill in America at the Paper Industries Exposition in New York City. The article also gives a short synopsis of the history of the paper mill built by William Rittenhouse in 1690 on Monoshone Creek (or Paper Mill Run), a tributary of the Wissahickon Creek.Collection
