Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 3 -The Wissahickon Page 133 contains the following: (a, top) Jellett's notes read as follows: "King Solomon Lincoln Drive Stand on the rustic bridge near Township Line Road and look south, - almost over Rittenhouse Birth-place. You will then see in the foliage over School-House Lane, a ??? figure resembling 'King Solomon sitting in state'." (b, bottom) A newspaper clipping is labeled (by Jellett) as "Lincoln Drive" and is hand-dated 5-14-1907. The article describes a pair of beech trees which stand on the east side of Lincoln Drive beyond Walnut Lane Bridge. A Park Gurad refers to them as "Siamese Twins" because they are so perfectly united.
