The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1- The Wissahickon
Page 29 contains three articles (or portions thereof) detailing the Wissahickon.
Left (a): is an article from The Record (date unknown) entitled "Plans for Wissahickon Drive". The article describes plans for the improvement of the Drive as related by Landscape gardener C. H. Miller to include various plantings, foliage removal, and the construction of stone bridges to replace wooden bridges (this last feature a suggestion not formally approved by the Park Commissioners).
Bottom Center (b): is an article which relates the reminiscence of an older man regarding the Wissahickon Valley when he was young and the various locations, structures and people he knew. He laments the loss of the landmarks and people but extols the still natural beauty of the Wissahickon.
Right (c): is an article entitled "Wissahickon's Sylvan Joys". A pencil notation cites "10 mo, 1914". The article is actually a Letter to the Editor of the Public Ledger. It is signed "The Lady from Baltimore" . The Letter extols the work done on the Wissahickon by the Engineers and Park Commission and describes a sylvan setting utilized by humans and animals in a most natural habitat.Collection
