The clipping itself reads: "Opposite on a side road beyond the Park, is new Indian Rock Hotel, a resort which has appropriated the name of "Rube" Sands' well and favorably known stopping place, once nestling amid Wissahickon's highest hills." (b, bottom) This newspaper clipping is a photograph of the Indian Rock Hotel with the following caption: "Riders and Drivers along the beautiful Wissahickon were wont to tarry awhile and partake of refreshment for horse and man at the Old Indian Rock Hotel, shown above as it appeared in 1895. The photograph shows a large building of three stories with a porch at both the first and second story levels with woden railings and fretwork. Benches line the porch at the lower level. A sign identifying it as the Indian Rock Hotel is visible to the right.
