The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 5 -The Wissahickon
Page 105 contains two photographs:
(a, top) The photograph is inscribed, in Jellett's handwriting, "The Cave, 1904". The photograph shows two men (one standing with a foot propped on a rock, and one kneeling) at the entrance to the "Cave" (the Wissahickon Mine Entrance), see scrapbook page 89 of this volume (2013.34.5.89). Towering above the mine entrance is a steeply inclined hill covered with additional rock formations and trees.
(b, bottom) This photograph has a typed label that reads "Lookiing Out From Mine Entrance, 1905." The photograph was taken from inside the mine entrance and frames the entryway viewing the area outside the entrance. Due to the darkness inside the mine entrance and the lgiht outside, the view is "clouded" and somewhat obscure.Collection
