Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 7 -The Wissahickon Page 34 contains two postcard photographs: (a, top) This postcard photograph is labeled: "Valley Green Bridge On the Wissahickon, Philadelphia, Pa," The photograph is in color and shows a stone arched birdge (which is inversely reflected in the waters of the creek) that spans the creek. Forbidden Drive can be seen on the left bordered by a wooden fence. Trees and foliage abound on both sides of the creek and create a "pastoral" scene. (b, bottom) This photograph has a hand-written inscription at the top right which reads: "Valley Green Bridge". This photograph is almost an exact replica of (a) above. It is taken from a slightly closer distance and is in black and white. The interplay of dark and light in the photograph is caused by the sun filtering through the tree canopy diffusing the light.
