The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1- The Wissahickon
Page 51 contains handwritten notes of Jellett on white lined note paper. These notes are entitled "W. H. Shingle" and are dated March 5, 1905. Jellett recounts stopping at Shingle's box at Rittenhouse Street (Shingle has been previously listed as a guard and Rittenhouse Street is the location of a guard box, see catalog number 2013.34.1.10). Jellett relates a conversation with Shingle who maintains an interest in the "Strange Rocks" of the Wissahickon (Washington Rocks, Buffalo Head, etc.), along with notable trees in the Wissahickon Valley (on Gypsy Lane near the Drive, the Fillmore Tree, etc.).Collection
