Page 50 contains a photograph of the Valley Green Inn which is undated and uncaptioned. The photograph shows the Inn in the midst of Winter with snow covering the trees, the roof and Forbidden Drive. Tracks can be seen on the Drive, likely caused by a horse-drawn sleigh.
(a, top) This illustration contains a printed caption at the bottom which reads: "The Wissahickon - Bridge at Valley Green." The illustration shows people embarking from a boat onto the creek bank in the foreground. In the background can be seen the bridge at Valley Green which spans the Wissahickon Creek. Trees line both banks and extend into the distance.
(b, bottom) This photograph has a printed caption which reads: "Valley Green Inn, Wissahickon Drive." The photograph shows the Valley Green Inn with a front and side view. A gas lamp can be seen in the left foreground. To the right of the Inn is a stone wall. At the far right, a portion of a roof line and stone wall can be barely seen. Most likely, this structure was a low roofed building used to shelter horses. The photograph refers to the Inn as being located on Wissahickon Drive. Today (2014), it is known as Forbidden Drive (so named because vehicular traffic is forbidden to use the unpaved road).Collection
