Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 7 -The Wissahickon Page 127 contains a photograph with a printed inscription on the photograph of "Indian Rock (Wiss) F.P.5". Underneath the photograph is the typed date of 1910. The photograph shows a front view of the Indian statue atop Indian Rock. As previously mentioned, the Indian is dressed in a headdress, moccasins and a loin cloth. He is shown in a "crouched" position with his right hand shielding his eyes as he peers into the distance. Behind him is partially visible the semi-circular fence which encloses the statue. Upon magnification, a tomahawk can be seen resting across his lap, the wooden handle of which is gripped in the Indian's left hand.
