Page 136 contains two newspaper clippings:
(a, top left and bottom) This article is entitled "Legendary History Told by a Statue". The article recounts the "passing" of the old wooden statue of Tedyuscung on "Indian" or "Council" Rock. The article also relates the history of that personage and the area and describes the historical importance of that spot in Wissahickon lore and history.
(b, top right) This "Letter to the Editor" seeks to correct some factual statements made in the above article. It is signed by Mary Middleton Vercoustre. The Editor follows with a "thank you" to the writer and a notation that many pieces of information have been passed down as actual facts and never contradicted. Thus they continue to be printed as actual history.Collection
