Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 9 -The Wissahickon Page 15 contains a 4 column newspaper article identified (by Jellett) as from the A. G. (Ambler Gazette) of 10-29-1908. The final two columns can be accessed by turning the while note paper to which the first two columns are attached to reveal the reverse side. The article is entitled "Private Trout Beds". The author recounts the raising of trout in natural streams/ponds on private estates, but notes that raising trout in "artificial" ponds is unique and troublesome. He cites George Thomas, owner of Bloomfield Farms and the old Springfield Mill as someone who has been successful in this enterprise. The author then recounts a history of the property and adjoining properties in the area as a "backdrop" for his description of artificial trout farming and the hazards/difficulties involved.
