Page 65 contains a clipping from a newspaper article (1910) entitled: "Fort Side Inn To Be Enlarged". Above the article is a rendition of the Inn, which depicted a three story stone structure with a "turret-like" projection in the front at the second and third story levels. A large porch extends to tow sides of the building and is capped by a railing at the second story level. The article recounts that the owner (Wm. P. Green) purchased the Inn in 1905 (the article is dated as 1910) and made considerable improvements to the building since the purchase. The current improvement involves the expansion and construction of a new dining room at a cost of $7000. This cost, in addition, to the $18,000 in improvements already made to the building.
It should be noted that this building is still in operation today (July, 2014) as MaGerks Pub and Grille and is located at 582 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ft. Washington, PA 19034, the same site as occupied by its previous incarnation as the Fort Side Inn.Collection
