The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 9 -The Wissahickon
Page 185 contains the following:
(a, top) This photograph has a typed caption that reads: "Near Lansdale, 1908, by Bartholomew." The photograph shows a man sitting in a flat boat by the shore of the Wissahickon, which here is shown as a narrow body of water. Behind the man in the boat can be seen a low bridge carrying a road over the creek. The bridge span is set into two stone "piers" to anchor the bridge span.
(b, bottom) This photograph has a typed caption that reads: "Bridge east of Schall's Mill." The photograph shows a somewhat "primitive" wooden(?) bridge span crossing the Wissahickon. Atop the span is a wooden rail on both sides supported by upright wooden beam supports. The span is set upon two stone buttress foundations. It is not clear whether the bridge carried only foot traffic or whether it also carried automotive traffic.Collection
