Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1- The Wissahickon Page 53 contains handwritten notes of Jellett on white lined note paper. These notes are entitled "Bob Fell" and are dated March 5, 1905. It should also be noted that this page is double sided and needs to be turned over to reveal the reverse side. Jellett recounts meeting with "Bob at his box" - alone- for one hour and reviewing (together) his 1876 map of the Wissahickon. Jellett relates that Bob Fell is one of the oldest guards and by Fell's account has spent 35 years in the Wissahickon. Fell recomended a book entitled "The Emersons" by Bumstead which (supposedly) gave a great deal of data regarding the lower Wissahickon, the Falls of Schuylkill and Manayunk. Fell metions a man named Julius Sachse, Hermit's Glen, John Kelpius and his Cave. Fell relates to Jellet stories of prominent families in the area (the Righter family) and other facets of information about life along the Wissahickon
