Willis Martin for the Friends of the Wissahickon (through the courtesy of Station WOO). There are four printed pages (not including the front and back covers) in the pamphlet. The contents of the pamphlet can be summarized as follows: The author describes some prominent features of the overall Wissahickon Valley and enables the reader to "visually" travel through the valley and creek pointing out prominent features and aspects as they appear in different seasons. He relates a compressed history of the area and an explanation of the name 'Wissahickon'. He addresses the Indian legend of 'The Lover's Leap" and mentions both the poet, Morley, and the writer, Edgar Allen Poe, who both wrote of the Wissahickon. He ends with an exhortation to all citizens to guard and protect the Wissahickon as a civic duty.Collection
