Description

Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 108 Photograph a [top]: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows a "row" of three houses, the left-most of which can definitely be identified as the Peter Keyser House at 6316 Germantown Avenue, the middle house would be located at 6320 Germantown Avenue and the rioght-most house would be located at 6322-24(?) Germantown Avenue. The Keyser House appears as a three story structure with a mansard roof (creating the third story) with three "modified" dormer windows in the front facade of the mansard roof. A portion of a rear extension is visible to the left in the photograph. The house has a centrally positioned front entrance with a rounded pediment and surround. All windows (with the exception of the dormers) have shutters. A fence and gate separate the side yard from the sidewalk. Germantown Avenue is visible in the foreground as paved with trolley tracks embedded in the paving. The next house (to the right) is also three stories with a "gambrel" type dormer on the front and an elevated sloping roof in the back. The front entrance has a formal arched pediment and surround and front steps which are built parallel to Germantown Avenue. The last house to the right is a two story stone structure. Utility poles are visible in the sidewalk along Germantown Avenue. Photograph b [bottom]: This photograph shows the same "row" of three houses taken from the opposite vantage point, with the Keyser House now at the left. More prominent in this photograph is the two story stone structure (see notes for further information) on the right. A third story window is visible on the right side as is a side yard separated by a fence from Germantown Avenue. A blurred female figure is seen walking in front of this house along Germantown Avenue. Also more visible is the roof line in the middle house which clearly shows a small window on the side wall of the thrid story and the pitched angle of the roof.
