Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 122
Photograph a [top]: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows a view of the Water Works pond located at the west end of Tulpehocken Street at Pulaski. The pond occupied a large tract of land bordered on the north by West Washington Street; on the west by Wissahickon Avenue; on the south by West Walnut Lane and on the east by Pulaski. it may also be located as being at the intersection of present day Licoln Drive and Morris Street (2013). The photograph shows the pond in the foreground and on the distant shore a three story building that is in all likelihood the Water Works building. In the rear of this building atop the roof is a "cupola-type" structure. A very tall chimney protrudes from the rear of the building and towers above the building. Another building can be seen on the hill above this first building. Many trees are visible as is snow which covers the hill and the pond.
Photograph b [bottom]: This photograph shows a similar view of the Water Works pond and the same building as seen in photograph 122a. The view is slightly more angled from above the pond. More trees surrounding the pond are visible and they are in full leaf. The building as mentioned in photograph 122a is still visible; however, the building behind it (further up on the hillside) is not. At the left side of the photograpg (at the water's edge) is a "denuded" tree with a sign affixed to the top (unreadable) which stands in stark contrast to all of the other trees shown in the photograph.
