Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 130
Photograph a [top]: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows a view of the main entrance at Phil-Ellena (located in the 6800 block of Germantown Avenue) through a "break" in the tree line. The photograph was taken at a distance from the front facade and the view is of the main portion of the building with stone fluted columns with Ionic capitols supporting a triangular pediment. Framed between two of the center columns are the double front doors situated between two small columns with Ionic capitols. Above this entrance is an ornamental frieze. All of the stone columns rest upon a series of stone steps leading down to a pathway that extends for some distance, although it is somewhat obscured to the left in the photograph by trees. Two stone statuary are visible to the right at the base of the steps.
Photograph b [bottom]: This photograph shows a side view of the Museum and Clock Tower building. The building to the left in the photograph is a "tall" one-story building with two large windows. Incorporated into the building to the right is a multi-story clock tower. The front entrance is topped by a "hip roof-style" overhang. Midway "up" the tower is an oval-topped window and a protruding stone balcony with stone balustrades (which appear to be constructed on each side of the tower). A pent eave is visible immediately below the clock face. Above the clock face three arches are built into the facade which supports a "hip-style" roof capped by a finial. In the foreground is seen a path which leads to the building/tower. Trees and vegetation are visible throughout the land surrounding the building/tower.
