Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 92
Please see Notes for a description of captioning. Please also see additional catalog numbers 2013.5.1.7b, 26a, 46a for other descriptions of photographs of Engle House. This photograph shows a front view of the Engle House located at 5938 Germantown Avenue from the rear of the property. Please see notes for additional clarifying information.
The Engle House is shown as a two story stone structure with two dormer windows (barely visible) built into the roof line. The second story level in this photograph is almost completely covered with ivy so that only a vague outline of the windows is discernible. Four stone steps lead up to the double door front entrance, above which an overhang extends the width of the house with an arched pediment centered over the front door. First floor windows have paneled shutters. A raised/slanted door is visible to the left of the front steps leading to the basement. To the right of the steps an opening in the foundation with a metal grille is visible. A slight view of additional buildings is barely visible in the background behind the house.Photograph Details
