Please see Notes for a description of captioning. This photograph shows a view of a horse chestnut (or elm tree) on the grounds of Germantown Academy, located at 100 West School House Lane. The photograph shows a large mature tree in the center of the photograph with a plaque affixed to the trunk. Behind the tree is a large open field with a football post prominent on the left. Behind the field are shown other buildings. These buildings would appear to be adjacent properties surrounding this playing field of Germantown Academy, as noted on close inspection by fencing which delineates and encloses the field. To the left of the tree are shown the "framework" for potential bleacher seating (?) lining the edge of the field. Immediately to the right of the tree in the photograph is more "seating components" (?) on the ground. In the distance (at the opposite side of the field) are seen some individuals.
