Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 144
Photograph: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows a view of the Jacob Miller House (later known as the James Gowen House) located in the 7300 block of Germantown Avenue (currently [2013] the site of the Lutheran Theological Seminary). The photograph shows a large three story residence with a front facade of dressed stone. Two dormer windows are built into the third story roof line. The main entrance has a formal "overhang" supported by four columns and a transom is barely visible atop the front door. An open porch is visible to the left and an enclosed porch is visible to the right. A series of three steps lead from Germantown Avenue to the sidewalk and another series of steps lead up to the main entrance. A stone wall extends from the left side of the residence . Dentil molding has been added to the front facade just under the roof line. Solid panel shutters are visible on the first floor windows; louvered shutters are visible on the second story windows. Mature trees are visible throughout the property in the photograph.
