Description

Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 138 Photograph: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows an exterior view of the Episcopal Church of St. Martin in-the-Field located at 401 West Willow Grove Avenue (at the corner of West Willow Grove Avenue and St. Martin's Lane). The view shows a Gothic style church building with a prominent tower with four spires at each end of the tower and a "spired" roof topped by a cross. Four arches (one on each side of the tower) are covered with a "louvered screen" (presumably to protect the bells within). A large rose window is seen to the left of the tower, immediately below a one story apse with four spires. To the left, adjoining the Church is another stone building, which appears connected to the Church by a covered walkway. Behind the Church (on St. Martin's Lane, to the right) houses are visible.
