Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 145
Photograph: Please see notes for captioning and other information. This photograph shows a view of Upsala, located at 6430 Germantown Avenue. The photograph shows a large, formal three story residence with three dormer windows built into the roof line. The front facade shows a decorative stone "band" extending the width of the front and also to the side walls above the first story line. All windows on the front facade are capped by a stone lintel (with a keystone in the middle), and elaborate dentil molding runs below the roof line . The main entrance is surrounded by an arched pediment "overhang" supported by four columns resting on a raised stone base. A series of stone steps lead from the circular paved driveway in front of the house to the front door which is topped with a transom. Additional houses may be glimpsed through the trees to the right in the photograph. Solid shutters cover the first floor windows; louvered shutters cover he second story windows. Decorative "dovetail" joint stonework adorn the side of the building as seen on the left in the photograph. Mature trees abound throughout the property.Photograph Details
