Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 2, Page 104
Photograph a [top]: Please see notes for captioning information. This photograph shows a front and side view of the Christian Lehman House located at 5524 Germantown Avenue. The structure is a three story stone building with a gambrel roof (affording a third story) with a dormer window in the front roof line. There is a two story extension in the rear. The house is set back on the property from Germantown Avenue. In the foreground is an expanse of lawn with a tree. Besdie the house is a low picket fence extending to about the middle side of the house. The low picket fence is then supplanted by a high solid plank fence which appears to continue for the depth of the property. A tall wall (of unknown material) extends on the left from the front door to the front of the property. First floor windows are framed by solid shutters. A brick chimney extends above the roof line. On the side extension is visible a rounded "trellis-like" canopy over what may be a side entrance.
Photograph b [bottom]: This photograph also shows a front and side view of the Christian Lehman House. This photograph differs from photograph 104a in that the side of the house is almost obscured by trees; the photograph appears to be taken from a higher angle with a view that is almost at the second story level looking down at the front entrance; and there is clearly a structure to the left which in photograph 104a showed a tree and some open space beyond the wall. The front facade is also covered with vegetation, the front window shutters are closed (and the side shutters may be as well) and the house gives the appearance of being unoccupied - all things not observed in photograph 104a.
