Notes

Owner: Tourison Family The hat most likely descended in the Tourison Family of Mt. Airy. "The Tourison family file at the Germantown Historical Society lists Stephen Tourison as grandfather of Ashton S. Tourison. Stephen Tourison was known as a Civil War hero who died of wounds related to his service during the war. "Ashton S. Tourison was born in Mount Airy on March 3, 1851. This file says that he built the Germantown Cricket Club and once resided at 7015 Ardleigh St. in Mount Airy. He had four children, Eugene J., George, E. R., and Ashton T., Jr. His name appears in the Philadelphia Blue Book in 1884. His residence was listed as 5541 Germantown Avenue. His name appears in the 1885 and 1886 Blue Books and then disappears until 1890 and 1891 when his address is listed as 32 E. Sedgwick Avenue, Mount Airy."
