Provenance

Notes

From Mrs. H. Curtis Wood "Woodleigh" Whitemarsh, PA This shawl and quilt (quilt unknown) belonged to Mrs. Wood's grandmother, Mrs. Henry Brown of Germantown. "The Wood family tree...has included altogether fourteen respected men of medicine since the eighteenth century. The handing on of the name Horatio Curtis Wood has reached a sort of impasse in various branches; there now being a Dr. Horatio C. Wood Jr. (Pennsylvania '97), a Dr. Horatio C. Wood IV (Haverford '50) and a Mr. Curtis Wood (Yale '54)." (Source: The Perennial Philadelphians: The Anatomy of an American Aristocracy, page 109, By Nathaniel Burt)
