Description

Fichu or modesty piece. Woman's shoulder cape or shawl; 36-inches square; soft embossed white silk; self fringe; pattern around edge and scattered through center. Note enclosed with shawl: "This silk shawl belonged to Jesse Greet (born about 1770) Aunt [indecipherable]... 75 years old or more." Excellent condition except for bad age stains. Circa 1800. Transcribed from original accession record.
