The February, 1921 article notes that "The first five days of the War Memorial campaign for the purpose of raising $15,000 by popular subscription to place the marble tables in the memorial rotunda of the new Town Hall brought in more than 5000 voluntary contributions. The campaign, which opened on Lincoln's Birthday and closes on Washington's Birthday, has been heralded by the slogan 'A Star In Every Home.' All those who donate will receive a gold start to place in their window, thus showing that they have shared in the erection of this community's beautiful memorial to the eighty war-dead of Germantown, Mount Airy, and Chestnut Hill. Details of the campaign include several appeals broadcast by radio. Thomas Parris has been the speaker on these occasion, through the courtesy of Station WLIT... The committee has the names of 112 Germantown, Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill boys who died during the World War.
