Clippings and memorabilia from World War I scrapbook compiled by Dr. Naaman H. Keyser, page 23.1
The letter associated with the envelope mailed by Private W. C. Murray to Dr. Naaman Keyser is glued into the scrapbook, along its left edge. It is not backed by paper. The letter, written in pencil on December 29th, 1918, from W. C. Murray to Naaman Keyser reads: "Dear Dr. Keyser, Just a few lines to let you know I am still on the job. I have been very busy these last five months, and on Sept 28th our company went over the top, and I got wounded by a machine gun bullet in the left leg. The bullet freactured my shin bone and passed through my leg. I am getting along very nicely, and expect to be sent home from here any day. I hope your boys will soon be home, as it is the best place, after all. Maybe it wasn't great stuff to see those Germans running. The weather is just like spring over here, and this is some beautiful country. Give my regards to Mrs. Keyser. Sincerely Yours, W. C. Murray." The letter is writen on American Red Cross/ American Expeditionary Force stationary. See 2013.13.1.23 for associated envelope.
