Description
This series consists of a collection of bank checks and handwritten promissory notes issued by George W. Summers. Several were issued in his capacity as Executor for the estate of Ann M. Millan; others are his personal checks. The most recent, dated October 24, 1868 was written by his son, Lewis Summers, acting for the Estate of George Summers. Judge Summers passed away on September 18, 1868.
Most documents are drawn from the Bank of the West in Charleston, West Virginia, with one later example from the Kanawha Valley Bank.
