Single page letter to Lewis Summers from Julia McFarland, Sep 18, 1925. Enclosed with this letter was a photo (ID#2005_323_14_01) of a monument to Sir George Summers in Bermuda, which McFarland references in her letter. This 20-foot tall stone obelisk was erected in 1909 & is located in Somers Garden in St. George's. The monument commemorates the 300th anniversary of the 1609 settlement of Bermuda and honors Admiral Somers, who founded the colony after his ship, the Sea Venture, wrecked on nearby reefs.
