Hand drawn and watercolored map of drainage system at Montgomery Place, in two pieces; title appears in lower left corner of left page: "A Section of Tile draining as follows, / the angles Numbered (sic) 0.IX. 1-0. 3.4.5.6.7.8.9. and 10 to the / stone drain going through the woods. / The figures along the main drains and its branches / are feet and inches, representing the distance from / the intersection of one branch to the others / and on the branch its length / October 21st 1854. by H Champlin;" more writing in pencil appears below: "F I / 1176.5 Large Tile / 1523.11 [underlined] Small Tile / 2700.4 Whole Amount / 1658 / 1583 [underlined] / 135;" originally on one piece of paper from a bound book (stitching holes run down the center), the map is now in two pieces, torn roughly down the center; two thick lines (making one line) of ink and paint run from the upper left corner down to almost the middle left side and then branch out across the page to the right, with a second thick line forking downwards along the center and then over to the lower right; smaller double lines project outwards from the two major lines and are numbered with the above mentioned measurements; the words "stone" and Tile" appear respectively along the upper left side line; "Old well" and a tiny drawing of a hand pointing to a circle appears on the lower right corner at the end of the line; an elegant, single line compass appears in the upper right hand side.
