Description

One of two cast iron brass faced (?) andirons: brass spherical head with a baluster-shaped shaft. The elements of the stem are turned and have an undulating contour. The shaft is divided into four segments: a reel, another reel, a squat baluster, a flaring element is curled in profile. The feet are perpendicular mounted on an iron appendage that protrudes from the rear of the stem's base. It curves to the left to an iron finial, then moves straight back to a third leg. The andiron is rather plain, the only decoration being the subtle accents between the undulating forms. Pieces unscrew.
