Curatorial Remarks

Note

Mr. John M. Graham II, Curator of Furnishings, Colonial Williamsburg, indicates that tests of the wood revealed them to be American, and that bedstead was of 17th century, in his opinion, and in that of the dealer. Seventeenth century dating of bedstead makes it one of the very earliest American beds extant. Headboard, which does not fit exactly, may be possibly be later replacement. Check condition. I wouldn't say excellent.
