Description

Rectangular bookend with a rounded top and a hinged base. The bookend is made of wood, faced with leather, then handpainted with a floral bouquet in greens, reds, oranges, lemons and blues. This is then bordered with a leaf motif pressed into the leather. This border is found along all the edges of the bookend. The inside has two leaves pressed into the upper corners and an elaborate scroll ornament in the form of an inverted "C" painted in red. The pressed leaves in the upper corners motif is mimicked on the inside plane of the base, while on the outside small rosettes are pressed into the four corners.
