Description

Oval footed bowl, "Floral Imari" pattern: scrolled rim, two openwork scrolled handles; molded leaf forms around base of plate; scrolled collar; molded ribbed and hollow stem; flared circular foot with scrolled rim; transfer-printed, hand-tinted decoration in tones of blue (dark and light), green, orange, pink, yellow and gilt; a gilt band surrounds rim, gilt highlights on handle, collar, stem and foot rim; border consists of alternating scrolled "plume" devices with carnation sprays and appears around rim and foot; at center of plate there is an asymmetrical basket with stylized flowers and branches, a repeat of this device appears on two sides of plate underside; mark on base written in red: "1/438" with "+" with dots in each quadrant inside stem.
