Description

Four-branched Victorian Louis XVI Style bronze, onyx and ormolu candelabrum. The gilded bronze branches are heavily decorated with leaves and end with onyx candleholders, which are in the center of flower petals (possibly rose petals). The four golden stems are held up by a cast bronze cupid bearing a cornucopia (which is bound to his arm by cloth). The cupid stands in contro-posto with one hand on his hip and the other holding the cornucopia. He wears a lion cloth and stands on a gilded bronze relief of the earth. The base is of onyx and is block-like in appearance. On the front of the base is an ormolu garland held by two rosettes. The base rests on four feet of gilded bronze with a band of beaded decoration, classically inspired.
