Curatorial Remarks

Note

In the early 1700's, Philip Van Cortlandt and Catherine DePeyster and their sons John and Pierre spent an increasing amount of time at the Manor and became much more involved in the activities. In their childhood John and Pierre raised a beloved pet deer whose antlers were mounted and now hang above one of the doorways at the Manor house. There was a cane made of silver, bone, and part of the antler, that was in a rack by the front door and became lost over the years. It has been found among other family memorabilia and is being returned to its rightful place at the manor house. This information per Mrs. Browne.
