Description

A late 19th c., brass mounted, glass enclosed carriage clock with a mercury pendulum and enamel face. The clock is rectangular in shape with two glass doors on the front and back to access the clock. The cornice has rounded corners and a beaded band running just under the top. This beaded band is repeated on a large scale along the upper rim of the base. The face is colored white with purple roundels encircled by a gilded gold rope-like band and containing gold gilded Arabic numerals. The minutes are denoted by gold gilded diamonds and diamond stud shaped forms. The hands are black with the smaller one decorated with a lyre motif. The face is surrounded by a brass frame consisting of a leaf and berry motif bordered by a beaded pattern on the outer edge. The clock is encased in glass on four sides with a brass frame. The clock rests on a brass base with feet that wrap around the curved corners. A separate metal key is present and used to wind the clock.
