Note

Miscellaneous: SS.61.78 seems to be a rather unique chair designed by a rural cabinetmaker familiar with American Empire chairs of the 1830-45 period, with Phyfe & Phyfe-style Neo-Classical chairs, of c.1800-1825, as well as with the earlier country bannister back chairs, and, perhaps, with "bamboo-turned" Windsors, as well. Seemingly, then, date would fall somewhere within the middle of the 19th. century. N.B. 4/78 JTB reattributed location.
