Description

Side chair upholstered in faux leather: arched cresting rail over curved rectangular stiles, molded; two shaped rectangular banisters form back, and are upholstered with modern brown leather, applied with large-headed brass tacks; cross member, into which banisters are set above seat; seat upholstered to modern brown leather, with large-headed brass tacks; cabriole front legs, terminating in simple Spanish feet; H-stretchers, turned, with fourth stretcher at rear; black paint.

Remarks: Faux leather upholstery is slightly brittle and worn on front upper corners of seat; 3/4" x 1/16" piece of leather missing from edge near bottom on proper left side in front; finish on top wooden crest is slightly crazed in front and severely crazed in back; old upholstery nail holes evident in front at top below chair molding and throughout back of back support top and (11) side rails; knee area of front proper left leg severely worn from 3/4" x 3/8" area; proper left leg on front of splayed foot worn along center and outer edges; corner of proper left leg has been repaired- diagonal crack across front of foot; proper right front leg severely worn at knee area and also along center and outer edges at foot on front; proper right rear foot of leg is worn on back and inner side at bottom; proper left rear foot of leg is worn outer side and inside back corner; paint worn on back side at top of cresting rail and outside edge of outer bannister rails. Details of condition: old wood worm damage to left seat rail.
